Notice to Taxpayers – from Inland Revenue Department (30.11.2023)
Furnishing Return of Income for the Year of Assessment 2022/2023
In terms of the provisions of the Inland Revenue Act, No. 24 of 2017 (IRA), every person who is liable for Income Tax shall file a Return of Income not later than eight months after each Year of Assessment.
Therefore, last date to furnish the Return of Income for the year of assessment 2022/2023 is November 30, 2023.
However, due to attempting Large number of Taxpayers to do e-Filling at the last moment on 30 November 2023, have caused difficulties to submit Return of Income as per the aforesaid statutory requirements.
Hence, taxpayers and approved accountants those who were unable to complete “Submit” task and the message “Error Occurred! Please resubmit the return again.” appeared at the time of submission, are informed hereby that the ‘date of Return Acknowledgement’ will be treated as November 30, 2023, if the filing task is completed within 48 hours from the midnight of November 30, 2023.
